DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – A 90-year-old Dutch national was found deceased in his hotel room in the Sanur area of Denpasar, Bali, on Tuesday morning (March 3, 2026).

The man, identified as Tonko Andries van Dijk, had been staying at the hotel with his wife since February 4. The couple had planned to check out on Tuesday.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of South Denpasar Police, Iptu Azel Arisandi, said the incident began early in the morning.

“At around 5:00 a.m. WITA, the victim asked his wife for drinking water and then returned to sleep. At approximately 6:00 a.m., he was no longer responsive and the matter was reported to the hotel,” Azel said when confirmed on Tuesday evening.

Hotel staff checked Room 131 at approximately 8:10 a.m. WITA. The elderly man was found lying on his back on the bed, covered with a white blanket, and unresponsive.

The hotel contacted an on-duty clinic officer located within the hotel area. Initial medical examination indicated that the man appeared pale, with no detectable pulse and dilated pupils.

To confirm the condition, the clinic doctor contacted a medical team from BIMC Hospital for further assessment.

Authorities have not reported any signs of violence, and the case is being handled in accordance with standard procedures.
