BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team carried out a medical evacuation of a crew member from the vessel LC Astrolabe after a health emergency was reported in the waters of the Badung Strait on Monday morning, January 19, 2026.
The initial report was received by the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office through the ship’s agent, PT Bayu Cipta Samudra. According to SAR officials, the vessel was en route from Australia to Batam when one of its crew members experienced health problems as the ship approached Bali waters.
“Based on the initial information, the ship was sailing from Australia to Batam, and near Bali waters one crew member developed a medical issue,” said Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office I Nyoman Sidakarya in an official statement.
The crew member, identified by the initials SVK (43), is an Indian national. Following coordination between the joint SAR team and the ship’s agent, an interception was agreed upon at coordinates 8°46’11.99″S – 115°14’37.17″E in the Badung Strait.
“After plotting the coordinates, the intercept distance was approximately 3.08 nautical miles with a heading of 139 degrees and an estimated travel time of around 30 minutes,” Sidakarya explained.
At around 8:00 am WITA, a team of 10 SAR personnel from multiple agencies reached the vessel and began the evacuation process. Prior to being transported to hospital, the crew member underwent an initial medical assessment by health officers from the Denpasar Port Health Office and Klinik Nusa Medica.
The medical team confirmed that the patient’s condition was stable and did not require special treatment during mobilization.
“The evacuation process took approximately 40 minutes, and the patient was then transferred toSiloam Hospital for further medical care,” Sidakarya said.
The medical evacuation involved multiple agencies, including the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, Denpasar Naval Base, Bali Police Water and Air Unit, Immigration, Port Health Office, National Police Water Unit, Benoa Port Vessel Traffic Service, Klinik Nusa Medica, Benoa Port Police, and the ship’s agent.
