JEMBRANA, DEWATA.NEWS – A sudden whirlwind struck Banjar Tembles in Penyaringan Village, Mendoyo District, on Tuesday evening, 9 December 2025, causing significant damage to three buildings, including a private residence and two business facilities.
According to an employee of a local shrimp farm, the incident began when three waterspout-like formations appeared offshore, two approaching from the west and one from the east, before moving inland.
BPBD Jembrana Chief I Putu Agus Artana Putra confirmed the event, stating, “The incident occurred at 18.30 WITA due to extreme weather. Staff at Aquatera Shrimp Farm saw three tornado-like winds form at sea and strike three nearby buildings.”
Following the report, the Rapid Response Team (TRC) Unit III of BPBD Jembrana conducted an immediate assessment at 19.35 WITA. The agency recorded damage at three locations with estimated total losses reaching IDR 13 million.
One affected site was the home of Nyoman Gede Ladra, where the roof sustained heavy damage. “Losses are estimated at IDR 3 million, and the resident has relocated independently to a relative’s house,” Artana explained.
Two business facilities, Aquatera Shrimp Farm and PT Suri Tani Pemuka, also suffered roof damage, with estimated losses of IDR 5 million each. Cleanup and initial repairs were scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
Artana added that emergency needs at the site include tarpaulins and basic food supplies to assist affected residents.
