BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Several beachfront cafés along Jalan Pantai Jimbaran in South Kuta, Badung, were damaged after being hit by strong winds early Thursday (8/1), prompting police to visit the site and urge the public to remain alert to ongoing weather risks.

South Kuta Police Chief Kompol I Komang Agus Dharmayana said the incident occurred at around 03:00 WITA. Local police officers, including community police (Bhabinkamtibmas), together with village security units (Babinsa and Linmas), accompanied the South Kuta Subdistrict Head, Jimbaran Village Head, and representatives of the traditional village in conducting an on-site inspection.

Field assessments showed that several culinary businesses in the Café 9 area suffered structural damage, primarily to their roofs, which were blown off by the strong winds.

As a result of the incident, the affected cafés have temporarily ceased operations. Businesses reported to have sustained damage include Cafe Nyoman, Cafe Lia, Cafe Denas, Cafe Bayang, Cafe Bambu, and Cafe Jimbaran Beach.

“Bhabinkamtibmas officers have coordinated with café operators and village authorities, while also advising the community to remain cautious due to the potential for further extreme weather,” Kompol Dharmayana said.

Police presence at the location was aimed at ensuring the situation remained safe and orderly, while also facilitating coordination among relevant agencies for post-incident handling.

Cleanup of debris from the damaged café structures is still pending further coordination with the Badung Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
