JEMBRANA, DEWATA.NEWS – Traffic along the Denpasar–Gilimanuk national road was briefly disrupted on Wednesday morning (January 14, 2026) after a tamarind tree collapsed and blocked part of the roadway near a fuel station in Kaliakah Village, Negara District, Jembrana Regency.
The incident occurred at around 06:10 WITA, according to the head of the Jembrana Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), I Putu Agus Artana Putra. The fallen tree measured approximately three meters in length with a diameter of around 35 centimeters and was located on the southern side of the road before collapsing northward across the traffic lane.
“The main cause was the decayed condition of the tree trunk, which could no longer support its own weight and eventually fell onto the road,” Agus Artana said.
The fallen tree partially obstructed traffic in the Denpasar-to-Gilimanuk direction. No injuries or casualties were reported, as no vehicles were passing directly beneath the tree at the time of the incident.
The obstruction caused a temporary slowdown along the route, which serves as the primary land transportation corridor linking Bali and Java. To prevent extended congestion, police implemented a temporary alternating traffic system while clearance operations were underway.
Following reports from local residents, the BPBD Jembrana Quick Response Team (TRC) Unit I and the agency’s operations control center were dispatched to the scene. Assisted by personnel from the Negara Police Sector, the team removed the tree by cutting the trunk with chainsaws and clearing debris from the roadway.
“Thanks to the prompt response, the cleanup process went smoothly. The road has now fully reopened, and traffic conditions have returned to normal,” Agus Artana said.
