DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Three people, including two Australian tourists, were injured after a car crashed into a concrete barrier and a light pole on the Bali Mandara Toll Road in Denpasar on Saturday evening (Aug. 1).
The accident occurred at around 7:00 p.m. WITA near kilometer 7,800 in the Benoa section of the toll road.
According to Denpasar Traffic Police Chief Kompol Mohammad Bhayangkara Putra Sejati, the Toyota Rush was being driven by a 47-year-old driver identified by the initials IKS when the vehicle reportedly went out of control.
“Upon reaching the accident location, the driver of the Toyota Rush was not sufficiently cautious and collided with the concrete road barrier and a light pole,” Bhayangkara said in a statement on Sunday (Aug. 2).
The vehicle was carrying two Australian nationals, identified by the initials LAS, 66, and JS, 54.
Police said LAS suffered abrasions and briefly lost consciousness following the crash. JS sustained abrasions as well as pain in the chest, abdomen, and waist area.
All three occupants were taken to BIMC Hospital for medical treatment.
“One passenger sustained serious injuries and briefly lost consciousness, while the other two suffered minor injuries. All victims have received medical treatment at BIMC Hospital,” Bhayangkara said.
The crash also caused extensive damage to the Toyota Rush, with material losses estimated at IDR 40 million.
Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of the accident and have completed the initial investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
