BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Extreme weather that has affected parts of Badung since Wednesday (January 21) caused significant damage to the “Kuta Beach” landmark sign near the Kuta Skate Park, after strong winds struck the area in the early hours of the morning.

The manager of Kuta Beach Tourist Attraction, I Nyoman Arya Arimbawa, said the structure collapsed around dawn due to intense winds linked to the ongoing extreme weather conditions.

“Yes, it collapsed early in the morning yesterday (Wednesday) because of extreme weather and strong winds. It could not be repaired, so we dismantled it temporarily,” Arya Arimbawa said on Thursday (January 22).

He explained that the dismantling process was carried out with approval from the Badung Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) to prevent potential risks to tourists and vendors operating nearby.

“It was dismantled immediately with permission from the Badung PUPR Office. As for repairs, there has been no further information so far,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kuta Traditional Village head (Bendesa Adat), I Komang Alit Ardana, expressed hope that the landmark sign could be restored in the near future. He said the structure has become part of Kuta Beach’s identity and contributes to the visual appeal of the popular white-sand destination.

“The sign has become a kind of new icon for Kuta Beach. We hope it can be repaired soon, with a stronger construction so it will not be damaged again even if hit by strong winds,” he said.
