DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Thousands of runners from around the world gathered in Sanur on Sunday morning (8/2) to take part in the Sanur Bali International Half Marathon 2026, an international sporting event held at Mertasari Beach, Denpasar.

The event attracted around 4,500 participants from 30 countries and was organized to support Bali’s sport tourism sector. The race was hosted by Prama Sanur Beach in collaboration with local run organizer Raja Lari.

Participants competed in three race categories: 5 kilometers (5K), 10 kilometers (10K), and the half marathon distance of 21 kilometers. The courses were designed to showcase the Sanur area and its surroundings, combining coastal routes, urban streets, and several iconic points that reflect Bali’s natural and cultural character.

Organizers said the event was intended not only as a sporting competition but also as a platform to promote Sanur as an international destination for active tourism. The routes allowed runners to experience the beachfront atmosphere while passing through residential and cultural areas of eastern Denpasar.

The General Manager of Prama Sanur Beach Bali, I Gusti Bagus Surya, said the half marathon forms part of the hotel’s long-term contribution to tourism development in Sanur.

“The Sanur Bali International Half Marathon 2026 is an important moment as Prama Sanur Beach Bali marks its 51st year, continuing our active role in supporting international-scale events that have a positive impact on tourism, the community, and the local economy,” he said.

Meanwhile, Raja Lari Chief Executive Officer Panca R. Sarungu explained that the event was prepared using international running event standards. These standards covered race technical arrangements, participant safety, and overall event management.

“This collaboration aims to deliver a professional, safe, and sustainable running event, while providing an optimal running experience for both domestic and international participants,” Panca said.

The Sanur Bali International Half Marathon is expected to strengthen Sanur’s profile as a hub for sport tourism and large-scale international events, while contributing to local economic activity and community engagement.
