BULELENG, DEWATA.NEWS – A Danish national was found dead inside a residence in Banyualit hamlet, Kalibukbuk Village, Buleleng Regency, on Tuesday afternoon (10/2/2026). Police said there are no indications of criminal involvement, based on initial findings.

Buleleng Police spokesperson Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz identified the victim by the initials MM, 53. The body was discovered at around 11:00 WITA by a local water utility officer who was checking the water meter at the house.

“The victim was found unresponsive inside the house, in a kneeling position with a plastic tie around the neck,” Yohana said on Tuesday.

According to police, the officer initially received no response after calling out to the occupant. After entering the yard, the officer saw the victim motionless inside the house and immediately reported the discovery to nearby residents and the property owner. The incident was then forwarded to village authorities and police.

Officers arrived at the scene shortly afterward and secured the area. An external examination conducted by a forensic doctor indicated that the victim had died less than 24 hours before being found. Police said there were no signs of physical violence on the body.

Medical findings showed pressure abrasions around the neck consistent with ligature marks, as well as foam around the mouth. Several of the victim’s personal belongings were also found at the scene.

Yohana added that witness statements indicate the victim had been living alone at the house for approximately four months. She was also reported to have been under psychological stress related to financial difficulties.

“The victim was known to be facing financial problems due to blocked banking access. She had expressed stress and was reported to have previously attempted self-harm,” Yohana said.

Based on the crime scene examination and preliminary investigation, police found no evidence of a criminal act. However, further examinations are still being carried out to confirm the exact cause of death.

“The provisional conclusion is that the victim died by hanging. The investigation will continue in accordance with procedure,” Yohana said.

The body has been transferred to Buleleng Regional Hospital for further examination, while authorities coordinate with the victim’s family and representatives of her home country.
