BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel has once again hosted a contemporary art exhibition, collaborating with Bali-based artist Dodit Artawan in a two-month public showcase that highlights everyday domestic life through visual art.
The exhibition, held at the hotel’s Sunset Bar and Lounge, officially opened on Thursday (6/2/2026) and will run until 6 April 2026. This marks the second art exhibition organized by the hotel, following a similar initiative launched in late 2025.
The program is the result of a collaboration between Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel as organizer, Dodit Artawan as the featured artist, and Olen Riyanto, founder of Mabiang Seni, who participated as a speaker.
Titled Domestic Life Style, the exhibition focuses on cultural expressions and daily life, particularly objects commonly found in household settings. Through a combination of color, form, texture, and subtle moments from everyday experiences, Dodit translates ordinary domestic elements into contemplative visual compositions.
“I’m more interested in non-figurative objects rather than figures or landscapes. The themes come from everyday items, and in this exhibition, household objects become the main focus,” Dodit said during the opening.
The choice of Sunset Bar and Lounge as the exhibition venue was intended to complement the reflective nature of the artworks. The relaxed yet elegant setting allows visitors to engage with the pieces in a casual environment, encouraging cultural dialogue between the artist, the audience, and the surrounding space.
General Manager of Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, Luis Daniel Garcia, said the exhibition reflects the hotel’s commitment to supporting creativity and celebrating local talent.

Director of Marketing and Communications Ni Putu Riska Wandira added that the exhibition is part of a regular cultural program initiated in October 2025. She said Dodit was selected because his work is accessible to a broad audience while also offering potential exposure to international markets.
“We are committed to supporting local culture. Our goal is to preserve and promote Indonesian, especially Balinese, artists by helping connect them with international audiences,” she said.
The exhibition is expected to further strengthen the hotel’s role as a platform for contemporary Indonesian artists while contributing to Bali’s evolving cultural landscape.
