DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – A 62-year-old Canadian national was found dead in a guesthouse room on Jalan Pulau Batanta No. 34, Banjar Abian Tegal, Dauh Puri Kauh Village, West Denpasar, on Monday (Feb 23, 2026) at around 11:00 WITA.

The victim, identified as Leclaire Suzanne, was discovered lying on her back on the bed inside her room.

West Denpasar Police Chief Commissioner Ni Wayan Adnyani Prabawati said the death was first reported by Nyoman Kenti Wilawati, 57, who had been assisting in caring for the victim.

According to police, at around 08:00 WITA Wilawati visited the room to help change the victim’s clothes and offer food and medication, but the victim declined. After staying for about an hour, she left with plans to return later in the afternoon.

At approximately 11:00 WITA, Wilawati returned with a friend, Mahmi, to provide non-medical treatment. When they arrived, they called out to the victim but received no response. They then opened the room and found her lying on the bed.

“After checking, the victim’s hands were cold and stiff. The finding was reported to the receptionist, Achmad Farid Arrahman, who then informed his superior and the police,” Commissioner Prabawati said on Tuesday (Feb 24, 2026).

Officers from West Denpasar Police and the Denpasar Police identification unit conducted a scene investigation and questioned witnesses. The victim was found lying on her back with her head facing west on a pillow, feet toward the east, both arms straight at her sides. She was covered with a brown blanket, wearing an orange tank top and adult diaper.

Police reported that several personal belongings were found in the room, including a white iPhone with charger, two power banks, a passport, a mobile phone, medications, and medical records from Siloam Hospital.

After initial examination at the scene, the body was transported to Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar using an ambulance operated by the Denpasar branch of the Indonesian Red Cross.

The guesthouse receptionist told police that the victim had arrived accompanied by Agus Gede Wedantara, identified as the son of Wilawati. The victim registered for daily accommodation at a rate of IDR 280,000 and reportedly planned to move to another hotel after recovering.

Police stated that no signs of violence were found on the body. However, dark marks were observed on the victim’s back, suspected to have resulted from prolonged lying down. Investigations remain ongoing.
