JEMBRANA, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in Jembrana Regency are continuing their investigation into the death of a 35-year-old Swiss national who was found deceased at a villa in Medewi Village, Pekutatan District, on Sunday night (Feb 22, 2026).
The victim, identified by initials GP, had been staying at the villa since January 2026. According to authorities, he was a tourist who frequently visited Jembrana for surfing.
Jembrana Police Chief AKBP Kadek Citra Dewi Suparwati, accompanied by Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP I Gede Alit Darmana, confirmed that investigators have questioned several witnesses, including the victim’s friend, the villa owner, and staff at the last restaurant he visited.
“Since the incident, we have examined several witnesses, including his friend, the accommodation owner, and the last dining place he visited,” Kadek Citra said on Wednesday (Feb 25, 2026).
Police have also coordinated with the Swiss Consulate in Bali regarding further procedures, including a planned autopsy. However, the autopsy is pending approval from the victim’s family.
“For further steps such as the autopsy, we are still waiting for approval from the family. They plan to come to Bali and are currently arranging passports in their country,” she added.
According to initial reports, the case came to light after the villa owner, Komang RG (46), became concerned when the guest could not be contacted. After repeated knocks on the door of Room No. 2 went unanswered, the owner and another witness attempted to enter the room around 7:45 p.m. WITA.
The door was locked from the inside. They then accessed the room through the back by climbing over a wall using a ladder. Upon entering, they found the room dark and discovered the victim lying on the bed under a blanket, with his body already stiff.
The incident was reported to police via the emergency hotline 110. Officers from Jembrana Police and medical personnel from Pekutatan Community Health Center (Puskesmas) arrived at the scene to conduct an initial examination.
AKP I Gede Alit Darmana stated that the external examination found no signs of violence on the body.
Investigators are continuing coordination with Swiss consular representatives while awaiting the arrival of the victim’s family in Bali to determine the next procedural steps, including the autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
