BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in Bali are intensifying their search for two suspects linked to the fatal stabbing of a Dutch national in Kerobokan, North Kuta, as investigators focus on eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage to identify those responsible.
The victim, a 49-year-old Dutch national identified by the initials RP, was attacked outside Villa Amira in Banjar Anyar Kelod on Monday night (March 23, 2026). The case is a continuation of the previously reported fatal assault involving a foreign national in the same area.
Authorities confirmed that at least three eyewitnesses, including the victim’s partner, directly saw the attack. Their testimonies are now central to narrowing down the search for the suspects.
Head of Public Relations for Bali Police, Kombes Pol Ariasandy, said investigators are relying heavily on statements from individuals who were present at the scene during and immediately after the incident.
“We are currently examining witnesses who were around the crime scene last night, including the victim’s partner. There are around three people who directly witnessed the incident and the moments after,” he said on Tuesday (March 24).
According to the initial reconstruction, the victim had been out with his partner before being approached by two men riding a black automatic motorcycle. Sensing danger, the victim instructed his partner to return to the villa and lock the door, while he remained outside.
“From the initial chronology, the victim was walking with his partner when approached by the suspects on a motorcycle. The victim then told his partner to go inside the villa and lock it,” Ariasandy explained.
“The suspects then approached the victim and carried out the stabbing,” he added.
Police said the suspects attempted to conceal their identities by wearing helmets and face coverings. However, the close-range observations provided by the three witnesses have offered valuable details regarding the suspects’ physical characteristics, behavior, and escape direction.
A joint team from North Kuta Police, Badung Police, and Bali Police’s mobile unit is currently reviewing CCTV footage along routes believed to have been used by the suspects as they fled the scene on the motorcycle.
Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the attack, including whether there was any prior connection between the victim and the perpetrators.
“The suspects have not yet been identified, as they were wearing full-face helmets and covered clothing during the incident. We are still conducting investigations and pursuing identification. We will provide updates as the investigation progresses,” Ariasandy stated.
The case remains under active investigation as authorities continue efforts to locate and apprehend the two suspects.
