GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali’s dining scene has gained international recognition as Locavore NXT in Ubud secured a spot in the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 list, ranking #44 based on the official announcement in Hong Kong on March 25, 2026.

The achievement marks a significant rise for Locavore NXT, which jumped from #92 in 2025, reflecting growing global attention toward Bali’s evolving culinary landscape.

Locavore NXT is known for its progressive approach to Indonesian cuisine, combining sustainability, seasonal ingredients, and locally sourced produce. The restaurant offers an immersive dining experience centered on eco-conscious and hyper-local concepts.

Its inclusion in the prestigious list highlights Bali—particularly Ubud—not only as a cultural and natural tourism destination, but also as a rising hub for world-class gastronomy.

Alongside Locavore NXT, another Indonesian restaurant, August in Jakarta, ranked #42, further strengthening Indonesia’s position in Asia’s competitive culinary scene.

Indonesia’s achievement was also complemented by international recognition for pastry innovation, with August’s pastry chef Ardika Dwitama receiving the Asia’s Best Pastry Chef Award 2026. His work is noted for transforming local Indonesian ingredients into modern dessert creations with strong identity and precision.

Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism welcomed the recognition, emphasizing its impact on promoting the country as a destination for high-quality travel experiences.

“This achievement shows that Indonesia’s rich gastronomy can compete globally when combined with innovation, quality, and strong storytelling,” said Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana.

The ministry also highlighted that culinary experiences are becoming a key driver in tourism development, positioning gastronomy as a strategic sector to enhance value and sustainability in the industry.

For international visitors, Locavore NXT’s recognition reinforces Bali’s appeal not only for its landscapes and culture, but also for its increasingly influential role in Asia’s fine dining scene.
