BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Garuda Indonesia has officially launched a new flight route connecting Bali with eastern Indonesia through a Jakarta – Denpasar – Timika – Jayapura service, strengthening national air connectivity and positioning Denpasar as a key transit hub.

The route began operations on Sunday (March 29, 2026) and is scheduled to operate four times a week every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from Jakarta using a Boeing 737-800NG aircraft with 12 business class and 150 economy class seats.

Flight GA652 departs from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 21:25 WIB and arrives at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali at 00:20 WITA the following day. The journey continues at 01:05 WITA to Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika, arriving at 05:45 WIT, before proceeding to Sentani Airport in Jayapura with arrival at 07:55 WIT.

Return flights from Jayapura are operated under flight GA653 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The flight departs Sentani Airport at 08:50 WIT, transits through Timika and Denpasar, and arrives in Jakarta at 15:30 WIB.

Sales Manager of Garuda Indonesia Denpasar, Dewa Bagus Rendra Maha Putera, said the new route reinforces Denpasar’s role as an international hub integrated with eastern Indonesia, particularly Papua.

“This route reflects Garuda Indonesia’s commitment to optimizing Denpasar as a key hub connecting international gateways with eastern regions of Indonesia,” he stated on Thursday (April 2, 2026).

The airline expects the new connectivity to provide more seamless travel options for both international tourists and business travelers.

With Bali serving as a major international tourism gateway, the route is also anticipated to boost visitor numbers to Papua and support regional economic growth through tourism and trade.

Garuda Indonesia stated it will continue to evaluate and expand its flight network to meet travel demand while strengthening its strategic role as Indonesia’s national flag carrier.
