JEMBRANA, DEWATA.NEWS – Intense rainfall that hit Jembrana Regency on Sunday afternoon (April 5) triggered a series of hydrometeorological incidents, including floods, landslides, and a fallen tree across several areas.
The extreme weather occurred within a three-hour period between 13:00 and 16:00 WITA, with the hardest impact reported in Mendoyo District.
According to data from the Jembrana Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), at least 11 disaster points were recorded across six villages in Mendoyo. These included seven flood incidents, three landslides, and one fallen tree.
An additional flood incident was also reported in Air Kuning Village, Jembrana District.
Head of BPBD Jembrana, I Putu Agus Artana, said Mendoyo was the most severely affected area based on initial assessments.
Flooding impacted residential areas in multiple villages, including Mendoyo Dauh Tukad, Mendoyo Dangin Tukad, Tegal Cangkring, Pohsanten, and Yehembang.
The most significant impact was reported in Banjar Tengah, Mendoyo Dauh Tukad, where overflowing rivers and drainage systems inundated dozens of homes.
“Heavy rainfall caused water levels to rise and overflow into residential areas,” Artana said.
Flooding was also reported in Banjar Tengah, Mendoyo Dangin Tukad, while further assessments are ongoing. In Tegal Cangkring, floodwaters affected five households in the Baler Bale Agung area.
In Pohsanten Village, one household was impacted, while in Yehembang, two flood locations affected a total of seven households across two banjar areas.
In Air Kuning Village, flooding occurred north of SMPN 5 Negara, affecting five households.
“In general, there were no fatalities or injuries. All floodwaters have receded after the rain subsided,” Artana confirmed.
In addition to flooding, three landslides were recorded in Pohsanten Village, including incidents that damaged residential structures and a kitchen area. A fallen tree was also reported on a village road in Delod Berawah, Mendoyo.
Authorities have conducted rapid assessments and initiated emergency response measures, including the distribution of basic aid such as mattresses and portable stoves to affected residents.
BPBD Jembrana continues to collect data and has urged residents to remain alert for potential further incidents, especially if heavy rainfall continues.
