DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in Bali have arrested a 29-year-old Belarusian national in a drug case involving suspected international trafficking, seizing hundreds of grams of cannabis and dozens of grams of cocaine.

The suspect, identified as HS, was apprehended on Monday night (April 6, 2026) by the Narcotics Unit of Denpasar Police (Polresta Denpasar) following coordination with multiple agencies.

Head of the Narcotics Unit, Kompol I Komang Agus Dharmayana, said the arrest was based on joint intelligence with the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), the Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Directorate, and Customs officers.

“We successfully secured the suspect last night based on coordination and information from Bareskrim, Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Directorate, and Customs,” he said on Tuesday (April 7).

The suspect was staying at a guest house in Ungasan, South Kuta, Badung. During the arrest, officers found approximately 483.5 grams of cannabis in his possession.

Further investigation at his accommodation led to the discovery of an additional 33.68 grams of cocaine.

“During follow-up searches at his place of stay, we found new evidence, including approximately 33.68 grams of cocaine,” Dharmayana added.

Initial findings indicate that the cocaine was obtained from an associate from Georgia, while the cannabis is suspected to have been shipped from Switzerland.

Police believe the drugs were smuggled into Indonesia using concealment methods inside clothing packed in luggage, allowing them to evade detection during entry.

“The suspect stated that the items were hidden inside clothes in a suitcase and neatly packed, possibly avoiding detection upon entry into Indonesia, particularly Bali,” he explained.

Authorities suspect the case is linked to an international drug distribution network targeting Bali. The arrest is believed to have disrupted part of the supply chain.

The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing to trace distribution routes and identify other individuals involved.
