BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Indian spiritual figure Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, widely known as Baba Bageshwar Dham, made a brief stop in Bali on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) as part of his international journey to Australia.
He was welcomed upon arrival at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport by Dr. Somvir, a member of the Bali Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).
Baba Bageshwar Dham is a spiritual leader from Madhya Pradesh, India, known for leading a major Hindu religious center and having a large following both in India and among the global Hindu community.
During his visit, he expressed interest in Bali’s Hindu traditions, particularly the role and placement of Hanoman figures in local temples. He noted a specific curiosity about Hanoman’s presence in Pura Dalam, where it is associated in certain traditions with manifestations of Dewa Bayu.
According to him, Hanoman holds deep spiritual significance in the Ramayana and represents values such as courage, loyalty, and spiritual strength. He also acknowledged the way Balinese Hindu communities honor these values through their temple traditions.
The visit was seen by local figures as a moment of cultural and spiritual exchange between Indian and Balinese Hindu traditions.
Following his stop in Bali, Baba Bageshwar Dham is scheduled to continue his trip to Australia as part of his international religious agenda.
Dr. Somvir said the visit could open opportunities for future international-scale spiritual activities in Bali, potentially involving followers from multiple countries.
“This visit is brief, but it is an honor for Bali as a global spiritual center. We welcome him before he continues to Australia for religious events,” he said.
He added that Bali’s cultural heritage and spiritual identity are widely recognized globally, and such visits could strengthen its position as a destination for cultural and spiritual tourism.
The visit is also expected to contribute to broader efforts in promoting sustainable tourism based on culture and spirituality, while maintaining Bali’s local values and traditions.
