JEMBRANA, DEWATA.NEWS – A large whale was found stranded alive along the shoreline of Nusasari Beach in Melaya District, Jembrana, on Tuesday (May 5, 2026), drawing attention from local residents and authorities.

The incident was first reported by nearby residents at around 15:30 WITA. Witnesses initially noticed a large moving object approximately 100 meters from the shoreline. As the tide receded, the marine animal became stranded, with its head facing toward the sea.

According to Melaya Police Chief Commissioner I Ketut Sukadana, the whale was first spotted by locals who observed unusual movement near the water’s edge.

“The whale was first discovered by residents who saw a large animal moving its tail near the shoreline,” he said when confirming the incident.

Residents quickly reported the situation to authorities. As of the latest update, the whale remained stranded on the sand due to low tide conditions, occasionally showing weak movement.

The situation highlights ongoing challenges related to marine wildlife incidents along Bali’s coastline, particularly during tidal changes that can affect large sea animals.
