DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – More than 150 female surfers joined the 23rd edition of Rip Curl Girls Go Surfing Day 2026 in Sanur, Bali, marking the largest participation in the event’s history.

Held at the Rip Curl School of Surf on May 10, the annual event brought together women of all skill levels, from first-time surfers to experienced riders, for a full day of surfing, coaching sessions, and community activities by the beach.

Participants received guidance from Rip Curl female athletes and professional surfing coaches, focusing on ocean safety, basic surfing techniques, and confidence-building in the water.

Indonesian Rip Curl athlete Taina Izquierdo said the event had grown significantly since she first joined as a child.

“I first joined Girls Go Surfing Day when I was 11 years old, and it’s amazing to see how much this event has grown,” she said.

“Seeing more than 150 women supporting each other both in and out of the water made today feel very special. The energy, confidence, and sense of community were incredible.”

Beyond surfing sessions, the beach atmosphere featured yoga classes, ice baths, beach volleyball, live music, and various community activations throughout the day.

Environmental awareness also remained part of the program through a coral gardening activity led by the Rip Curl School of Surf team. Participants planted their own coral spiders to help restore coral gardens near the surfing school area in Sanur.

Food and beverage partners provided refreshments for participants during the event, while sunset celebrations continued with music and social gatherings by the beach.

Organizers said the success of this year’s edition reflected the continued growth of women’s surfing in Indonesia and Rip Curl’s commitment to expanding opportunities for women to experience surfing and ocean culture.

Rip Curl School of Surf in Sanur also confirmed that daily surfing classes remain available year-round for beginners and surfers looking to improve their skills in a safe and supportive environment.

The event was supported by several local and international partners, including Mamaka Hotels & Resorts, Solcreme, Megatix, Yummy Dairy, Island Brewing, Sensatia, and other Bali-based brands.
