JEMBRANA, DEWATA.NEWS – Three people, including two Chinese nationals, were injured in a two-vehicle collision on the Denpasar–Gilimanuk highway in Jembrana Regency, western Bali, on Friday afternoon (June 26).
The crash occurred west of the Tuwed fuel station in Munduk Bayur Hamlet, Tuwed Village, Melaya District, involving a Honda CR-V and a Suzuki APV.
Melaya Police Chief I Putu Suarmadi confirmed the incident and said no fatalities were reported.
“After receiving the report, officers immediately went to the scene to conduct an investigation and evacuate the victims, including the foreign nationals, to medical facilities,” Suarmadi said.
According to police, the Honda CR-V, driven by 44-year-old I Made Wardina from Manistutu Village, was traveling from Denpasar toward Gilimanuk.
At the same time, a Suzuki APV driven by 55-year-old Agustinus Sukirno Darmawan of Gilimanuk was approaching from the opposite direction.
Preliminary findings indicate that the APV crossed into the opposing lane, causing the two vehicles to sideswipe each other.
The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles. The APV lost its front right wheel, its windshield shattered, and its front bumper was dented. The Honda CR-V sustained damage to both its right and left sides.
Police estimated material losses at approximately IDR 25 million.
The APV driver suffered minor abrasions to his left hand.
Two Chinese passengers traveling in the APV, identified as Chen Shaoru, 30, and Huang Gua, 30, were also injured. Chen sustained a head injury, while Huang suffered an injury to the left leg.
All three victims remained conscious after the crash. They initially received treatment at Melaya I Community Health Center before being referred to Negara General Hospital for further medical care.
Traffic along the Denpasar–Gilimanuk highway slowed temporarily while emergency responders evacuated the victims and removed the damaged vehicles.
Normal traffic flow resumed after the accident scene was cleared.
