BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A total of 42 flights at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport were canceled or delayed as increased volcanic activity at Mount Anak Krakatau affected air operations on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
The number of affected flights rose significantly from the previous total of 17 as the volcanic activity continued to affect several routes to and from Bali.
Ngurah Rai Airport Communication & Legal Division Head Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi said airport operations remained generally normal despite the disruption.
“Due to the increased volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau, we can inform you that several flights at Ngurah Rai Airport have experienced cancellations and/or schedule adjustments,” Sandi said on Sunday.
Based on flight data recorded at 3:30 p.m. local time, 41 of the 42 affected flights had been canceled, while one flight was delayed.
On the arrival side, seven flights from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang (CGK) to Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS) were canceled.
The largest impact was recorded on departures from Bali to Soekarno-Hatta. A total of 30 flights on the route were canceled, while another flight was delayed.
Two flights from Bali to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta (HLP) and two flights to Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung (BDO) were also canceled.
Airport Coordinates With Airlines and Air Navigation Authorities
PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, also known as InJourney Airports, which manages Ngurah Rai Airport, is coordinating with airlines and other agencies to respond to the disruption.
The airport is working with airlines to update flight schedules and assist passengers who are already at the terminal. It is also coordinating with AirNav Indonesia to monitor airspace conditions affected by the volcanic activity.
For affected passengers who remain at the airport, Ngurah Rai management has prepared service recovery assistance in the form of drinks and snacks.
The airport is advising passengers not to travel to the terminal until they have confirmed the status of their flights with their respective airlines.
“We also urge air passengers to regularly confirm their flight status and schedule with their airline before departing for the airport,” Sandi said.
The latest disruption means travelers with flights involving Bali should check directly with their airline before leaving for Ngurah Rai Airport, particularly those traveling on the affected routes.
