BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A total of 108 flights at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport were canceled or had their schedules adjusted as increased volcanic activity at Mount Anak Krakatau affected air travel to and from the island.
The disruptions were recorded between 7 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, and 11 a.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026. The affected services mainly involved flights connecting Bali with Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta, and Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung.
Ngurah Rai Airport Communication & Legal Division Head Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi said airport operations remained generally normal, covering both domestic and international services.
“Due to the increased volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau, we can inform you that airport operations and services at Ngurah Rai Airport generally remain normal for both domestic and international routes,” Sandi said.
On the arrival side, 43 flights from Soekarno-Hatta (CGK) to Ngurah Rai (DPS) were canceled. Another five flights from Halim Perdanakusuma (HLP) to Bali and three flights from Husein Sastranegara (BDO) to Bali were also canceled.
For departures from Bali, 51 flights to Soekarno-Hatta were canceled, along with three flights to Halim Perdanakusuma and three flights to Husein Sastranegara.
The disruption affected approximately 13,000 passengers, consisting of around 4,400 arriving passengers and 8,700 departing passengers.
Airlines and AirNav Monitor Conditions
The airport management, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), is coordinating with relevant agencies, particularly airlines, to provide updated flight information and assist passengers already at the airport.
The airport is also coordinating with AirNav Indonesia to monitor airspace affected by Mount Anak Krakatau’s volcanic activity.
For passengers whose flights have been affected and who are already at the terminal, Ngurah Rai Airport has prepared service recovery assistance, including drinks and snacks.
The airport is advising passengers to check their flight status with their airline before traveling to the airport.
“We urge air passengers to regularly confirm their flight status and schedule with their airline before departing for the airport,” Sandi said.
Travelers with flights to or from Bali should therefore check directly with their airline for the latest operational information before leaving for Ngurah Rai Airport.
