BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Badung Police are reviewing their security and patrol strategy in North Kuta after a 27-year-old Malaysian national, identified by the initials NM, was reportedly robbed on Jalan Pangkung Sari, Kerobokan, on Saturday (September 12). The alleged perpetrator was identified as IWJ, 29.
The incident has prompted police to assess nighttime patrols in North Kuta, an area frequently used by residents and tourists. Authorities said future patrols will be adjusted based on crime patterns, locations and times considered more vulnerable to street crime.
Badung Police Public Relations Section Head Ipda Ni Nyoman Yuni Eltari said on Tuesday (September 23) that officers were continuing to evaluate nighttime patrol operations following the robbery.
“Patrols are not only conducted through mobile units, but also through stationary activities and community-oriented patrols at several locations that are busy with residents and tourists,” Yuni said.
According to Yuni, police will increase personnel presence during higher-risk hours and at locations identified through security mapping as having a potential for street crime.
Badung Police and the North Kuta Police Sector are also strengthening coordination with traditional village authorities, Pecalang, tourism-area managers, businesses and other security personnel. The measures are intended to prevent crime and allow authorities to respond more quickly when security disturbances occur.
Police are also providing safety guidance to tourists, particularly those walking or traveling by vehicle.
“For tourists, we continue to provide information in a human and approachable manner so they can remain alert while carrying out their activities, especially when walking or using vehicles,” Yuni said.
Tourists are advised not to display jewelry or valuable belongings conspicuously in public areas. Police also advise motorists not to use mobile phones while riding or driving and to keep valuables in secure places.
The advice is being delivered by officers in the field and through the Bhabinkamtibmas community policing network, as well as through coordination with hotels, villas and tourism businesses.
“We invite the community and tourists to work together to maintain security by remaining vigilant and immediately reporting suspicious activity to the police,” Yuni said.
Badung Police said they would continue security efforts for both residents and tourists and take legal action against street crime perpetrators in accordance with applicable law.
