GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Gianyar Police are investigating an alleged theft involving two Russian nationals at Villa Eden Estate in Banjar Tatiapi Kaja, Pejeng Kawan Village, Tampaksiring, Gianyar. The incident reportedly occurred at around 4:30 a.m. WITA on Wednesday (September 23) in Room 8 of the villa.
The two foreign nationals identified in the investigation are a woman with the initials ZLP and a man identified as AG. Police said AG remains at large and has been placed on the wanted list.
Based on the investigation, the two suspects allegedly entered the villa and took several decorative items from the room. The reported missing items included two resin decorations, a small wall decoration statue, a sofa cushion and a wall mask.
The villa management reported an estimated material loss of IDR 3 million.
Police have seized several items as evidence for the investigation, including a Honda Brio, a flash drive containing CCTV footage, documents related to the items and several decorative objects allegedly connected to the case.
Gianyar Police Chief AKBP James I. S. Rajagukguk said on Tuesday (September 29) that the legal process was being conducted based on the public report, findings at the scene and valid evidence, while maintaining the presumption of innocence.
“The legal process also applies to cases involving foreign nationals and continues in accordance with the applicable regulations. Law enforcement is carried out based on facts and evidence obtained by investigators, without distinguishing between nationalities,” James said.
The suspects are being investigated under Article 477 Paragraph (1) letter g of the Indonesian Criminal Code, with Article 476 as an alternative charge. The provisions carry a maximum prison sentence of seven years.
Gianyar Police have also urged residents and tourists visiting Bali to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the authorities.
“We invite the community and tourists to work together to maintain security. Any information related to suspected criminal activity should be reported immediately so we can follow it up according to procedure,” James said.
