BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport confirmed that flight operations continued normally after authorities determined that an electronic bomb threat received over the weekend was a false alarm.
According to airport officials, the electronic message containing the suspected bomb threat was received at 9:58 p.m. local time on Sunday (August 2).
The airport’s Security Committee immediately activated standard security procedures and coordinated with relevant agencies to assess the situation.
“On Sunday, August 2, at 9:58 p.m. WITA, the airport received electronic information containing a suspected bomb threat,” said Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Head of Communication & Legal Division at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Following a thorough investigation, authorities found no evidence supporting the credibility of the threat.
“Based on further investigations, no indication was found that the information received was genuine,” he said.
Airport management emphasized that all flights and airport services remained safe, orderly, and fully operational throughout the incident.
Officials also reminded the public that airports are classified as vital national infrastructure, where security measures are strictly enforced under Indonesian law.
“We urge the public and airport users not to joke about, create, or spread false information regarding bomb threats or any other security threats at the airport,” Sandi said.
He added that deliberately spreading false information about security threats at airports constitutes a legal offense and may result in criminal sanctions under applicable regulations.
Meanwhile, Airport Police spokesperson Iptu I Gede Suka Artana said investigators are continuing efforts to identify the source of the false message.
“Our Criminal Investigation Unit is still investigating the origin of the information and coordinating with the relevant parties,” he said.
The incident did not disrupt passenger services or scheduled flights at Bali’s main international gateway.
