BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – International flight operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali continue to be affected by airspace closures in several Middle Eastern countries, leading to multiple flight cancellations as of Friday (March 6).
Airport operator PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia reported that dozens of international flights connecting Bali with cities in the Middle East had been canceled due to the situation. As of 17:00 WITA on March 6, a total of 64 scheduled flights were canceled, consisting of 34 departures and 30 arrivals.
Head of Communication and Legal Division at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, said the cancellations affected several major Middle East routes.
“Due to airspace closures in several countries, as of Friday, March 6, 2026, there are a total of 64 international flight schedules, 34 departures and 30 arrivals, that have been canceled,” he explained.
Several airlines were impacted, including Qatar Airways on the Doha–Denpasar and Denpasar–Doha routes, Emirates on Dubai–Denpasar and Denpasar–Dubai routes, and Etihad Airways on the Abu Dhabi–Denpasar and Denpasar–Abu Dhabi routes.
Despite the disruptions, some flight operations have gradually resumed. Emirates has restarted flights from Bali after one of its aircraft remained overnight at Ngurah Rai Airport since February 28. The flight, EK369, departed for Dubai on March 5 at 00:42 WITA using an Airbus A380 aircraft.
The departure marked the airline’s first flight from Denpasar to Dubai after Dubai International Airport gradually resumed normal operations.
Later on Friday afternoon, the airport also handled the arrival of Emirates flight EK368 from Dubai. The Airbus A380 landed in Bali at 16:30 WITA.
Airport management stated that overall airport operations and passenger services remain running normally while authorities continue to monitor the evolving situation.
“We continue to coordinate closely with the affected airlines to monitor the latest operational developments,” Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi said.
The airport operator is also coordinating with AirNav Indonesia and security authorities while monitoring developments in Middle Eastern airspace to ensure safe airport operations.
According to airline data, a total of 8,187 departing passengers were affected by flight schedule adjustments between February 28 and March 6. On March 6 alone, 334 passengers experienced disruptions.
To assist affected travelers, the airport has implemented several mitigation measures. These include allocating parking stands for four aircraft from three impacted airlines and providing airline help desks in the International Departure Terminal.
The airport is also coordinating with the Immigration Office to provide special counters for Emergency Stay Permits (Izin Tinggal Keadaan Terpaksa / ITKT) for affected passengers. The service counters are located on the second floor of the International Departure Terminal.
Additional assistance includes complimentary snacks and drinks provided daily for affected passengers, as well as access to the airport contact center via phone number 172.
Airport management advised travelers to regularly check their flight status and contact their respective airlines directly for the latest schedule updates.
