DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali’s largest international trail running event is set to return from May 15–17, 2026, bringing thousands of runners from across Indonesia and overseas to challenging mountain routes in Kintamani and Karangasem.

The event, titled myBCA BTR Ultra 2026 presented by Asics, marks its seventh edition and will once again be centered at Batur Natural Hot Spring in Kintamani, Bangli Regency.

Organized by the Bali Trail Running community, the competition features multiple race categories, including 7K, 7K Kids, 18K, 30K, 60K Ultra, and the flagship 100K Ultra category.

Race Director and organizing committee chairman I Putu Agus Darmayuda said the 18-kilometer category is a new addition this year, replacing the previous 15K route.

Meanwhile, participants in the 100K Ultra category will traverse extreme terrain stretching toward the Mount Agung area.

“Participants will experience Bali’s unique natural landscapes such as black lava fields, Mount Batur, the Culali sand plains, Batur pine forests, and the hills surrounding Mount Abang,” Agus said in Sanur on Saturday (May 9, 2026).

Organizers reported that this year’s event has attracted 5,916 participants, representing a 47 percent increase compared to the 4,007 runners recorded in 2025.

According to Agus, the growing numbers reflect rising interest in trail running while also indicating improved event quality and international recognition.

This year’s event carries the theme “BTR Ultra for All,” emphasizing inclusivity for participants of different age groups and fitness levels.

Beyond sports competition, organizers are also highlighting environmental sustainability through waste management initiatives during the event.

Participants will wear jerseys made from recycled materials as part of a campaign to reduce waste at large-scale sporting events. Organizers are also collaborating with the ACS Bali Foundation to support sustainable waste management practices throughout the race weekend.

Safety preparations have also been strengthened, with all organizing staff receiving first-aid training supported by Bali International Hospital.

Participants are additionally being provided with emergency response education through discussions focused on safety in extreme sports activities.

Bali Trail Running chairman I Made Budiana said the event is not only a sports competition but also part of Bali’s broader sport tourism promotion strategy.

Meanwhile, Bangli Regent Sang Nyoman Sedana Arta stated that the event is expected to bring positive impacts to local tourism and the regional economy.

According to local officials, hotels and villas in Kintamani have reportedly been fully booked for months due to high enthusiasm from runners and visiting tourists.
