GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – An 85-year-old British national was found dead at his villa in Tegallantang, Ubud, Gianyar Regency, on Wednesday (10/6) morning. Authorities believe the death may be related to age and declining health, although the exact cause is still awaiting further medical examination.

The victim, identified by the initials PHB, had reportedly been living at the villa since 2012.

The incident was first discovered by a villa staff member, Ni Wayan Munti, 54, who regularly assisted and cared for the elderly resident.

According to Ubud Police Chief Kompol I Wayan Putra Antara, the staff member arrived at the villa at around 9:00 a.m. to deliver food. Upon entering the living room, she found the victim lying motionless on a red sofa.

Realizing something was wrong, she immediately contacted her son, I Made Aryawan, 26. After confirming that the victim showed no signs of response, they reported the situation to local community security officers, traditional village authorities, and a medical team from Nusa Medica Clinic Ubud.

Ubud Police received the official report at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Officers subsequently secured the scene, interviewed witnesses, and coordinated with medical personnel who conducted an external examination of the body.

Police said the victim was found lying on his back on the sofa, wearing only an adult diaper. His head was facing east, with both hands resting on his chest.

Investigators reported no signs of forced entry, damage, or suspicious activity inside the villa.

According to witness statements, the victim had experienced ongoing health problems in recent months.

Aryawan told investigators that the elderly man frequently complained about worsening health conditions. Approximately two weeks before his death, he reportedly fell outside the residence, resulting in a displaced right thigh bone and abrasions on his right elbow.

“We have carried out initial crime scene processing, documented the incident, and coordinated with the victim’s family, who are currently in Australia,” Putra Antara said.

Police stated that while preliminary observations suggest the death may be related to advanced age and deteriorating health, the final determination will depend on further medical examination.
