BULELENG, DEWATA.NEWS – A British national was arrested late Tuesday night (May 5, 2026) after allegedly attacking a resort employee with a sharp weapon in the Menjangan tourism area, Pejarakan Village, Gerokgak District, northern Bali.
The incident occurred at around 20:05 WITA at a resort in Menjangan, a coastal destination known for diving and nature tourism. According to preliminary police information, the suspect, identified by initials AM, initially arrived at the resort claiming to conduct a room inspection.
The victim, a front office staff member identified by initials IBP, reportedly attempted to follow standard operating procedures by explaining guest protocols to the visitor.
Police said the suspect allegedly became upset during the interaction and suddenly attacked the employee using a knife. The victim suffered serious injuries to the eye during the assault.
After the incident, the suspect fled the scene in a white vehicle with Bali license plate DK 1461 FCG.
Buleleng Police received the report at around 20:47 WITA and immediately coordinated with officers at Gilimanuk Port Police Station to tighten monitoring on Bali’s main exit routes.
The suspect was eventually located at approximately 23:37 WITA near a row of shop houses in Gilimanuk, Jembrana Regency. Police found the suspect still inside the vehicle believed to have been used during the escape attempt.
Authorities confiscated several items as evidence, including two knives, a mobile phone, a passport, a driver’s license, and the vehicle.
After being secured at Gilimanuk Port Police Station, the suspect was transferred to Buleleng Police headquarters early Wednesday morning for further legal proceedings.
Buleleng Police spokesperson Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz confirmed the arrest on Wednesday.
“The suspect has been secured and is currently being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit. Further details are still awaiting an official release,” she said.
Police are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attack.
Meanwhile, the victim received initial medical treatment before being referred to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar due to the severity of the injuries.
