BULELENG, DEWATA.NEWS – Indonesian immigration authorities have detained a Canadian national in Bali following allegations that he damaged property and threatened residents in a housing complex in Buleleng Regency.

The foreign national, identified by the initials FRP (51), is currently being held at the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) while awaiting deportation proceedings, according to Singaraja Immigration Office officials.

Head of the Class II TPI Singaraja Immigration Office, Anak Agung Gde Kusuma Putra, said the man was initially secured by Buleleng Police after residents reported disturbances at the Griya Adi Jaya housing complex in Sukasada District.

Authorities said FRP allegedly damaged several parts of residents’ homes and created public unrest in the neighborhood.

“We received information that the individual became aggressive, so he was secured by the police and local residents,” Kusuma Putra said on Wednesday, May 14, 2026.

In addition to the reported property damage, the Canadian national was also accused of verbally threatening residents and attempting acts of physical intimidation during the incident.

Police reports stated the disturbance occurred on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at around 6:58 p.m. WITA. Several sections of residential property were reportedly damaged during the incident.

After being questioned by police, FRP was transferred to the Singaraja Immigration Office on Monday, May 11, 2026, along with a formal recommendation from police requesting deportation.

Immigration officials said the Canadian citizen had entered Indonesia legally through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and was holding a valid visit stay permit scheduled to expire on June 18, 2026.

However, authorities stated that his alleged actions were considered disruptive to public security and social order despite the active visa status.

“Although his stay permit is still valid, we consider the actions committed by FRP to have disturbed public security and order,” Kusuma Putra said.

FRP has since been transferred to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center for further processing ahead of deportation.

“We will not tolerate foreign nationals proven to have committed violations that disturb public security and public order,” he added.
