BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Traffic congestion continues to affect the Canggu shortcut road in North Kuta, Badung, despite recent road surface improvements, with authorities citing rising vehicle volume and low driving discipline as key contributing factors.
The route, widely used by both local residents and international visitors, remains a busy corridor, particularly during peak hours in the morning and late afternoon.
Badung Police, through its Traffic Unit, has been conducting routine traffic management operations to ease congestion during these high-traffic periods. Officers are deployed to regulate vehicle flow and reduce bottlenecks along the shortcut.
“We are also intensifying patrols and enforcement against violations that contribute to congestion, including illegal parking and improper use of road shoulders,” said AKP Ni Luh Tiviasih, Head of Traffic Unit at Badung Police, on Saturday (April 18).
Authorities are also working with the Badung Transportation Agency and local government to explore both short-term and long-term solutions. These include traffic engineering measures and area restructuring aimed at improving flow efficiency.
In addition, the use of technology is being expanded to support traffic monitoring.
“We are encouraging the use of CCTV systems to monitor traffic conditions in real time,” she added.
Officials warned that unresolved congestion in key tourism areas such as Canggu could impact Bali’s image as a travel destination, as the route is frequently used by domestic and international tourists.
Drivers are urged to follow traffic rules, avoid illegal parking, and maintain proper road etiquette to help improve overall traffic conditions.
“With collective discipline, we expect to reduce congestion and create a safer, more orderly traffic environment in the Canggu shortcut area,” she said.
