GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Access to Tirta Empul Temple in Manukaya Village, Tampaksiring, was temporarily disrupted after a tree fell across the main road following heavy rainfall in the area.
The incident occurred after sustained rain overnight weakened an aging gamal tree, causing it to collapse and block traffic leading to one of Bali’s well-known sacred sites.
Local authorities, including police, military personnel, and village officials, responded quickly to secure the area and manage traffic flow, which had been affected by the obstruction.
Tampaksiring Police Chief AKP Anak Agung Alit Sudarma said officers were immediately deployed to the scene to minimize disruption.
“We coordinated with related agencies and local residents to handle the situation quickly. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and road access has now returned to normal,” he said on Friday (May 1).
The evacuation process involved cutting and removing the fallen tree using chainsaws, with support from local residents who assisted in clearing the debris from the roadway.
The operation was led by on-duty personnel from Tampaksiring Police under the supervision of the Sabhara unit.
Authorities emphasized that swift action was taken due to the location’s importance, as the route serves both local residents and visitors heading to Tirta Empul Temple.
Although the road has been cleared, officials are urging the public to remain cautious as unstable weather conditions continue to affect parts of Gianyar.
“We advise residents to stay alert and report any potentially hazardous trees so preventive action can be taken early,” Sudarma added.
The incident highlights the impact of heavy rainfall on infrastructure and access routes, particularly in areas surrounded by vegetation and aging trees.
