BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A fatal incident occurred at the Alas Pala Sangeh Tourism Forest in Abiansemal on Wednesday, 3 December, when a large tree collapsed during heavy rain and strong winds. The accident happened at around 15:00 WITA and resulted in one death and one serious injury.
Ida Bagus Gede Pujawan, Head of the Alas Pala Sangeh management, confirmed the incident. “The fallen tree was located in front of Pura Bukit Sari, right along the tourist pathway,” he said.
The victim who suffered a bone fracture was identified as I Nyoman Ratna, a staff member from Banjar Sibang, Sangeh. Both victims were evacuated to Mangusada Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
Pujawan explained that the decades-old tree collapsed suddenly due to extreme weather conditions. When contacted, he stated that he was still accompanying the injured staff member to the hospital.
Emergency teams from BPBD Badung, alongside local residents, responded quickly to the scene after receiving a report from the site’s management.
I Ketut Murdika, Head of Emergency and Logistics at BPBD Badung, said their rapid-response team had already begun handling the situation. “I’m on the way to the location, but the team has already taken initial action. I will provide further updates,” he said.
Preliminary information indicates that the deceased victim was a tour guide who happened to be near the tree when it fell. Authorities are still confirming the victim’s full identity.
The incident serves as a reminder of the heightened risks in natural tourism areas during the rainy season. The site management stated their commitment to strengthening safety measures, including regular inspections of large trees along visitor routes, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Alas Pala Sangeh remains one of Bali’s well-known nature attractions, popular among both domestic and international visitors.
