BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Traffic was heavily disrupted along Jalan Raya Kerobokan, North Kuta, Badung, on Friday afternoon after a fire broke out on a provider and PLN utility pole in front of Warung Men Onk. The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. local time.
Authorities confirmed that the fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters and PLN technicians. According to Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti from the Badung Police, several witnesses have been questioned, including Ketut Subawan, who first spotted small sparks on two points of the provider pole as he passed the area.
The sparks intensified and turned into flames, burning through cable bundles at two connection points. Several provider cables snapped and fell across the road, causing motorists to slow down to avoid the hazard.
Traffic flow became heavily congested as the fire continued to burn across both points on the pole. Firefighters arrived within minutes and managed to put out the flames swiftly, while PLN personnel proceeded to cut off the electrical supply to prevent further damage.
Authorities stated that the fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit involving provider and PLN cables. Several cables were reported damaged or severed as a result of the incident.
