KLUNGKUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Tourism activities at Crystal Bay in Sakti Village, Nusa Penida, have been temporarily suspended following a flash flood that swept mud and wooden debris from the surrounding hills into the coastal tourism area.

Cleanup operations resumed on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, starting at 07.00 WITA. Personnel from the police, military, Sakti Village authorities, and local residents worked together to clear the affected areas as part of a coordinated recovery effort.

The cleanup focused on the parking area, access roads, and several local kiosks that were filled with mud and flood debris. Nusa Penida Police Chief AKP I Ketut Kesuma Jaya emphasized that restoring the site is essential for supporting tourism activities.

“We are continuing phased and sustainable post-disaster handling. The synergy between officials and community participation is crucial so that Crystal Bay can recover quickly and once again support tourism,” he said.

The flash flood had carried dense mud, fine sand, small stones, and wooden branches, which accumulated heavily in the parking zone and entered nearby kiosks. The sediment disrupted local business activity and partially blocked access to the beach.

During cleanup operations, officers and residents used manual tools such as shovels, hoes, buckets, and chainsaws to remove large pieces of wood stuck in the parking area and in front of kiosks. Meanwhile, shop owners focused on removing wet items and clearing 5–10 centimeters of mud from their floors.

By midday, approximately 75 percent of the parking area was operational again, although thin layers of mud remained in several spots. Many kiosks were still undergoing drying and reorganization due to thick sediment inside.

Access to the beach has now reopened after mud and debris were successfully removed, but authorities note that conditions are not yet fully safe. As a precaution, tourism activities at Crystal Bay remain temporarily suspended to ensure visitor safety and to allow further cleanup work to continue without interruption.
