BANGLI, DEWATA.NEWS – A community reforestation activity was held on the slopes of Mount Batur on Sunday (December 21, 2025), marking a ceremonial yet practical effort to promote long-term disaster awareness in Bangli Regency.

The tree-planting event took place at Bukit Pule, Songan Village, and was organized by the Bangli Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB Bangli) in collaboration with the local forest farmer group.

Residents and volunteers gathered to plant tree seedlings along the hillside, symbolizing a shared commitment to environmental protection and disaster preparedness.

FPRB Bangli Chairperson I Wayan Wiwin said the activity was designed not merely as a formal ceremony, but as a meaningful collective action rooted in community participation.

“Reforestation on the slopes of Mount Batur is an investment in the future. By planting trees today, we are strengthening collaboration to reduce disaster risks in Bangli,” Wiwin said during the event.

Established in June 2025, FPRB Bangli functions as an independent forum that partners with local government and communities, focusing on disaster prevention and preparedness initiatives.

Throughout 2025, the forum has carried out similar tree-planting activities across four districts in Bangli, alongside disaster education programs in schools.

The seedlings used in the Bukit Pule activity were supplied by watershed and forestry authorities, supporting efforts to restore vegetation in areas vulnerable to erosion and landslides.

Although the planting does not yet cover all affected land, organizers emphasized that the symbolic value of the event lies in building long-term environmental awareness.

Wiwin added that FPRB Bangli plans to continue working with multiple stakeholders to encourage the formation of Disaster-Resilient Villages, noting that Bangli faces several types of natural hazards due to its geographical conditions.

Community members attending the event were encouraged to view reforestation not only as an environmental measure, but also as a shared responsibility in safeguarding future generations.
