KLUNGKUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A 40-year-old French national identified as PBE has again come under police attention in Nusa Penida, following a report that he failed to return a rented motorcycle and had accumulated unpaid rental fees for 10 days.

The case emerged after the Jalak Nusa Patrol Team received public complaints on Wednesday night (December 24) regarding the presence of a foreign national causing concern in Banjar Celagilandan, Suana Village. The individual had earlier been reported by residents for takingguci tirta ceramic jars used for holy water, from a local cemetery.

Police officers responded to the report with a persuasive approach and conducted checks on the motorcycle being used by the foreign national. Through a phone number displayed on the vehicle’s sticker, officers contacted the owner, Ni Wayan Siplin, who confirmed that the motorcycle had been rented by PBE but that rental payments had not been made for 10 days.

On Friday (December 26) at around 9:00 a.m. WITA, the owner and her husband filed an official report at the Nusa Penida Police. Officers on duty, together with the Jalak Nusa Patrol Team, then conducted a search along the Ped–Batununggul main road.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. WITA, police located PBE riding a Honda Scoopy motorcycle on Jalan Raya Batununggul. He was approached in a non-confrontational manner and escorted to the Nusa Penida Police Station for further handling.

At the station, police facilitated a mediation meeting between both parties. During the discussion, the motorcycle owner stated that she would not pursue the outstanding rental payment and only requested that her vehicle be returned. Following the agreement, the motorcycle was handed back to its owner.

Police later conducted limited supervision of the foreign national until his departure via Roro Kutampi Kaler Port to Denpasar.

Nusa Penida Police Chief I Ketut Kesuma Jaya said his officers remain committed to responding swiftly to public reports.

“Every community report is followed up quickly and professionally. The Jalak Nusa Patrol Team represents our rapid-response effort to maintain public order and security,” he said.

He also urged vehicle rental businesses to ensure complete administrative documentation for rentals and to coordinate promptly with police if potential issues arise.
