BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – A fire broke out at the Villa Desa Harmonis complex on Jalan Labuan Sait, Desa Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, in the early hours of Thursday, January 1, 2026, shortly after New Year celebrations.
The incident was first reported by a nearby resident to the Badung Fire and Rescue Department at around 12:47 a.m. WITA. Firefighters were dispatched two minutes later and arrived at the scene by 12:54 a.m., according to Badung Fire and Rescue Agency head I Wayan Wirya.
“After receiving the report, our personnel immediately moved to the location. The team departed at 12:49 a.m. and arrived five minutes later,” Wirya said.
The fire spread rapidly, destroying 10 villa units within the complex, including the lobby area, before extending to a neighboring property, Villa Bilabong. Despite the scale of the blaze, no casualties were reported, and all five villa occupants managed to evacuate safely.
Material losses from the incident are estimated at approximately IDR 3 billion. Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have been triggered by fireworks used during New Year celebrations.
“The initial suspected cause is fireworks,” Wirya added.
Firefighters worked for around three and a half hours to fully extinguish the blaze and secure the area, including cooling operations to prevent flare-ups.
A total of seven fire engines were deployed from multiple units, including the Badung Main Station, Puspem Badung Station, Kunti Station, ITDC Station, and additional support from POA BPG.
During the operation, firefighters used an estimated 53,000 liters of water.
“Personnel from several stations were mobilized to ensure the fire was contained and did not spread to other nearby buildings,” Wirya said.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the site and assess the full extent of the damage.
