TABANAN, DEWATA.NEWS – Recent extreme weather marked by heavy rain and strong winds in parts of Tabanan has not had a significant impact on tourist visits to Tanah Lot, one of the regency’s most popular attractions. The site continues to draw steady numbers of both domestic and international visitors.
Assistant Manager of Tanah Lot Tourist Attraction I Putu Toni Wirawan said that although the region has entered Sasih Kaulu, a period traditionally associated with higher risks of extreme weather, the overall situation at Tanah Lot remains safe and well controlled.
“Entering Sasih Kaulu does require increased awareness of rain and strong winds. However, so far conditions in the Tanah Lot area are still under control,” Toni said on Wednesday (January 21, 2026).
Tourism activities at the site are continuing as normal, with no major disruptions reported. As a precaution, management has increased monitoring of visitor activity, particularly along the coastal areas during periods of high waves. Lifeguards carry out routine patrols to ensure visitor safety and comfort.
Despite the weather conditions, the management has not deemed it necessary to increase the number of lifeguards. Six lifeguards remain on daily duty, stationed across three monitoring points along the beach area.
“We have six lifeguards on standby every day at three observation points,” Toni explained.
He added that sea conditions around Tanah Lot Temple are currently considered normal, allowing visitors to enjoy views of the temple from nearby vantage points. During periods of higher waves, however, visitors are directed to observe the scenery from elevated areas as a safety measure.
In terms of visitor numbers, Tanah Lot recorded typical daily attendance throughout January 2026, averaging between 2,000 and 3,000 visitors per day.
“Our main focus remains ensuring the safety of visitors while they are in the Tanah Lot area,” Toni said.
