BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Emirates has replaced its Airbus A380 aircraft with a Boeing 777 on the regular Dubai–Denpasar–Dubai service at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, with the change taking effect in mid-January 2026.
The aircraft swap was confirmed by Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Head of Communication and Legal Affairs at Ngurah Rai Airport. He said the transition began on January 17, 2026, and applies to Emirates’ Dubai–Denpasar route.
“At present, Emirates has changed the aircraft type from the Airbus A380 to the Boeing 777 for flights serving the Dubai–Denpasar route,” Sandi Asmadi said on Monday, January 26.
He emphasized that the change has no impact on airport operations or service standards. According to the airport authority, facilities at Ngurah Rai remain fully capable of handling large aircraft, including the Airbus A380.
“In terms of airport readiness, services at Ngurah Rai International Airport remain optimal and meet all requirements to handle large aircraft such as the Airbus A380,” he added.
The Airbus A380, often referred to as the world’s largest passenger aircraft, had become a notable feature of Emirates’ operations in Bali and a visual highlight at the airport. The Boeing 777 is now operating the route, though details regarding the reasons for the change or how long it will last have not been disclosed.
Sandi Asmadi said decisions regarding aircraft deployment are entirely under the airline’s authority. “Any reasons for the change or its duration are fully at the discretion of the airline and can be confirmed directly with Emirates,” he said.
As of publication, Emirates has not issued a public statement explaining the rationale or timeframe for the aircraft replacement.
