BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali has experienced heavy rain and strong winds over the past two days, causing flooding in parts of Denpasar and Badung and triggering several fallen trees. Despite the extreme weather, operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport continue to run normally, although several flights were affected.

Head of Communication and Legal Division at PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia for Ngurah Rai International Airport, Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, said on Tuesday (Feb 24, 2026) that airport services remain operational.

“We can confirm that airport operations continue as normal. However, as of now, three flights have been affected due to weather conditions,” he said.

The affected arrivals included Cebu Pacific flight 5J 281 from Manila to Denpasar, which was diverted to Makassar at 12:12 a.m. WITA before eventually landing in Denpasar at 5:40 a.m. WITA.

Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ 247 from Phuket to Denpasar was diverted to Jakarta at 1:05 a.m. WITA and later arrived in Denpasar at 7:02 a.m. WITA.

For departures, Cebu Pacific flight 5J 282 from Denpasar to Manila, originally scheduled for 1:00 a.m. WITA, departed at 4:00 a.m. WITA after a delay.

Airport management stated that coordination is ongoing with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and AirNav Indonesia to continuously monitor weather conditions in the airport area to ensure passenger safety and operational security.

“We are also ensuring that terminal infrastructure and supporting facilities remain in optimal condition so that service quality for airport users is maintained,” Gede Eka Sandi added.

Passengers are advised to arrive earlier than usual and monitor traffic conditions on routes leading to the airport. Travelers are also encouraged to coordinate directly with their respective airlines for the latest flight information.

Additional reports indicated that Ngurah Rai Airport accommodated a diverted Citilink flight GQ670 on the Surabaya–Lombok route.

Meanwhile, Super Air Jet flight IU132 from Semarang to Denpasar was required to perform a go-around due to weather conditions. The aircraft circled over waters south of Bali while waiting for conditions to improve and eventually landed safely.

Airport authorities confirmed that overall operations remain stable despite weather-related adjustments.
