DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – An early warning system (EWS) alarm was activated at Tukad Badung river at around 03:00 WITA on Tuesday (Feb 24, 2026), after water levels reached Level 2 “Siaga” status, approximately 116 centimeters above normal.
The alert indicates heightened vigilance for residents and traders along the riverbanks in case of potential flooding due to rising water discharge.
According to available information, the water level had exceeded the riverbank boundary but had not reached Tukad Badung Bridge. The increase in river flow followed several days of heavy rainfall in Denpasar.
Despite the siren sounding early in the morning, activities at Badung Market continued as usual. Market operations were not disrupted.
Komang Sutisna, Head of the Badung Market Unit, confirmed that conditions had stabilized.
“The situation is currently safe. The water discharge has decreased,” Sutisna said when contacted on Tuesday.
He added, “So far it is safe, and market activities are operating normally.”
There were no reports of panic among traders. Following a major flood in September last year, vendors had been relocated to safer areas within the market complex. As a result, the recent increase in water level did not directly impact trading activities.
The Level 2 alert serves as an early warning for officials and communities along the riverbanks to remain cautious of possible overflow. Market management authorities continue to monitor the condition of Tukad Badung as rainfall persists in the area.
