JEMBRANA, DEWATA.NEWS – The family of a 34-year-old Swiss national found dead at a villa in Medewi Village, Pekutatan District, has arrived in Jembrana and stated they accept his death, declining an autopsy.
Piero Guicciardi was discovered deceased at the villa on the night of February 22, 2026. His parents traveled from Switzerland and arrived in Jembrana on Saturday afternoon (February 28).
Jembrana Police Chief AKBP Kadek Citra Dewi Suparwati confirmed on Sunday (March 1) that the family had formally expressed their decision.
“They have accepted his passing and declined an autopsy,” she said.
According to police, the family plans to proceed with cremation in Denpasar. Authorities are currently coordinating with the Swiss Consulate in Bali regarding the handling of the body.
“The plan is for the body to be transferred to Denpasar on Monday for cremation. We are still waiting for official information from the Swiss Consulate,” she added.
The body is expected to be transported from Jembrana to Denpasar once final coordination is completed.
Piero, who was known to enjoy surfing, had been staying at a villa in Medewi. He was found unresponsive in his room after the villa owner became concerned when he could not be contacted.
According to police information, the incident began when the villa owner, identified by initials Kadek RG (46), attempted to reach the guest but received no response. Repeated knocks on the room door also went unanswered.
At around 19:45 WITA, the villa owner and another witness attempted to open Room No. 2, but the door was locked from the inside. They then entered the room through the back by climbing over the wall using a ladder.
Upon entering, they found the room dark. After opening the front door, they discovered Piero lying on his back in bed, covered with a blanket, with his hands already stiff.
No signs of violence were found on the body. Police were contacted via emergency line 110 for further handling.
Authorities continue to coordinate with relevant parties to complete administrative procedures related to the cremation.
