DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Residents living and working in Bali’s coastal areas are urged to remain alert after the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Region III issued an early warning for potential maximum high tides from March 2 to March 9, 2026.
The warning is linked to the Perigee phase that occurred on February 25 and the Full Moon on March 3, 2026. The combination of these astronomical phenomena may increase maximum sea level heights along several coastal areas of Bali.
Areas potentially affected include the southern coast of Tabanan Regency, the coastline of Badung Regency, Denpasar City’s coastal area, the coastline of Gianyar Regency, and the southern coast of Klungkung Regency.
The potential for coastal flooding, locally known as rob, is expected to occur at varying times depending on the location, with differences in both date and hour.
In general, the condition may impact community activities around ports and coastal zones, including loading and unloading operations, residential activities in shoreline areas, as well as salt farming and inland fisheries.
Head of BMKG Region III, Cahyo Nugroho, in a statement released Sunday (March 1), advised the public to remain vigilant and monitor the latest maritime weather updates.
“We expect the public to remain alert to the potential for maximum high tides and to regularly follow updates issued by BMKG,” he said.
Coastal residents are advised not to panic but to take precautionary measures, particularly those living in areas prone to inundation during high tide conditions.
Authorities continue to monitor developments and recommend that communities stay informed through official BMKG channels.
