DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali Police have clarified viral claims circulating on social media suggesting that foreign intelligence agencies are involved in the investigation of the kidnapping of Ukrainian national Igor Komarov.

The claims were made by a Russia-based influencer known as Mr Terimakasih, who has a significant following in Bali. In a post on his Instagram account, he alleged that intelligence agencies from both Ukraine and Russia had arrived in Bali to assist local authorities. He also claimed that the Ukrainian Presidential Administration had submitted a protest note to the Indonesian President regarding security conditions on the island.

Responding to the speculation, Head of Public Relations of Bali Police, Commissioner Ariasandy, stated that authorities have not received any official information regarding the arrival of intelligence teams from either country.

“Bali Police have not received such information regarding the arrival of Ukrainian or Russian intelligence agencies,” Ariasandy said on Sunday (March 1, 2026).

Police emphasized that the kidnapping case remains fully under the control of a joint team from Bali Police and Denpasar Police, with coordination through Interpol for the pursuit of suspects overseas.

As of Friday, February 27, 2026, investigators have named six foreign nationals as suspects, identified by the initials RM, BK, AS, VN, SM, and DH. The suspects are reported to be Russian and Ukrainian citizens.

Authorities are coordinating with Interpol to issue Red Notices, as most of the suspects are believed to have left Indonesia. Two individuals are suspected to still be in the country.

The investigation progressed through GPS analysis of a rental vehicle linked to the suspects, which led officers to a villa in Tabanan. At the location, investigators found blood stains matching samples discovered inside the operational vehicle used by the perpetrators.

A man identified by the initial C was arrested in West Nusa Tenggara on February 23. He is believed to have rented the vehicle using a false passport.

Police also confirmed that they are continuing to investigate the motive behind the kidnapping and the current whereabouts of Igor Komarov.

Regarding the recent discovery of human body parts in Ketewel, Gianyar, the Bali Police medical team is conducting DNA tests to compare the findings with DNA samples from Igor’s parents to determine whether there is any connection to the kidnapping case.

Authorities reiterated that the investigation remains ongoing and urged the public to rely on official information from law enforcement sources.
