GIANYAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Police in Gianyar have intensified monitoring at key tourist attractions, including Suwat Waterfall, to maintain public safety and ensure a secure environment amid shifting visitor trends.

On Thursday (March 26), community police officer (Bhabinkamtibmas) of Suwat Village, Aiptu Anak Agung Gde Agung, conducted on-site monitoring and direct engagement with visitors and tourism operators at Suwat Waterfall, located in Banjar Suwat Kelod.

The activity is part of preventive measures to maintain public order (kamtibmas) while strengthening coordination with local stakeholders and visitors.

Field observations indicate a noticeable shift in visitor composition. The site is currently dominated by domestic tourists, while international visitor numbers have declined significantly.

Authorities link this decline to ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly conflicts in the Middle East, which are affecting international travel demand and access to Bali.

Despite the decrease in foreign arrivals, conditions at the waterfall remain safe and orderly. Visitors continue to enjoy the site without disruption, supported by the presence of security personnel.

Gianyar Police Chief, Kompol I Made Adi Suryawan, reaffirmed that regular monitoring will continue across all tourist destinations within the district.

“We are committed to maintaining a safe and conducive environment, especially in tourism areas, so both residents and visitors can carry out activities safely,” he said.

He added that collaboration with tourism operators and local communities will be strengthened to support the continuity of Bali’s tourism sector amid global uncertainties.

The continued presence of police is expected to help maintain visitor confidence and provide reassurance for tourism businesses operating in Gianyar.
