DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – An Italian national identified as JF (41) has been transferred to the Denpasar Immigration Office following a police case involving an alleged assault on a local resident in Bali.
Head of Denpasar Immigration Office, R. Haryo Sakti, confirmed that JF was handed over by authorities and is currently being held in the immigration detention facility.
“Last night he was officially transferred to Denpasar Immigration and is now in our detention room,” Haryo said on Friday (April 10, 2026).
JF is scheduled to undergo a minor criminal trial (Tipiring) at the Denpasar District Court on April 15. Immigration authorities will determine further action, including deportation and a potential travel ban, after the court ruling.
“We will wait for the court decision. Once the process is complete and the case is fully handed over to immigration, we will proceed with deportation and blacklisting,” he explained.
According to immigration records, JF entered Indonesia on a visit stay permit valid from January 31, 2023. However, he has been overstaying since March 10, 2023.
Based on these findings, authorities stated that JF has violated Indonesia’s Immigration Law No. 6 of 2011, particularly Article 78 on overstay and Article 75 related to actions that may disrupt public order and safety.
Immigration officials emphasized that their role is limited to handling administrative and legal violations related to immigration status, while the alleged assault case remains under police jurisdiction.
“We are handling the case strictly from the immigration side, where violations of overstay and public order provisions have been identified,” Haryo added.
Following the court’s decision, Denpasar Immigration plans to proceed with deportation procedures and submit JF’s name for inclusion on Indonesia’s entry ban list. The duration of the ban will be determined by the Directorate General of Immigration.
For international visitors, the case highlights the importance of complying with visa regulations and local laws while staying in Bali.
