DENPASAR, DEWATA.NEWS – Bali’s tourism sector showed steady growth in the first quarter of 2026, with international arrivals exceeding 1.645 million visitors between January and March, marking a 2.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Domestic travel also recorded positive growth, reaching 968,313 visitors, up around 4 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data.

The increase in visitor numbers has been followed by a significant rise in tourism-related revenue, particularly from the foreign tourist levy (PWA). As of March 31, 2026, total revenue reached more than IDR 71.449 billion, representing an 11.63 percent increase compared to the first quarter of 2025.

“As of March 31, the revenue has reached more than IDR 71.449 billion. Compared to 2025, this is an increase of 11.63 percent within three months,” said Bali Tourism Agency Head I Wayan Sumarajaya on Monday (April 13).

Despite the growth, compliance with the tourist levy remains a concern. Authorities noted that only around 32 percent of international visitors have paid the contribution, with compliance rates ranging between 22 and 33 percent.

The Bali Provincial Government continues to emphasize its commitment to developing high-quality, culture-based tourism. Officials are encouraging all industry stakeholders to improve service standards for both domestic and international visitors.

“We remain committed to maintaining culture-based, quality tourism. Therefore, we invite all stakeholders to continue improving services for tourists,” Sumarajaya stated.

Regarding a recent travel advisory issued by South Korea, authorities acknowledged the measure as a precautionary step by the origin country. However, officials emphasized that incidents have been handled properly and promptly by relevant authorities.

“From the handling and information side, everything has been managed well. We hope this will not affect international tourist arrivals,” he added.

Meanwhile, police data indicates a decline in crime rates across Bali, with reported criminal activity decreasing by approximately 23 percent. This trend is seen as a positive indicator for overall safety in the destination.

Authorities are continuing to strengthen coordination across agencies, including with Bali Police, to enhance preventive measures and maintain a secure environment for visitors.
