BADUNG, DEWATA.NEWS – Indonesian authorities have detained a foreign national from Ukraine during a joint immigration and anti-narcotics operation in Canggu, as part of ongoing efforts to enforce legal compliance among foreigners in Bali.
The operation took place on Saturday (April 18, 2026) under the “Dharma Dewata” immigration patrol program, involving officers from Ngurah Rai Immigration Office and the Bali National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
Acting on intelligence regarding suspected drug-related activity, the team conducted an inspection at a villa in the Canggu area around 15:00 WITA. The target, identified as DB (32), was located and escorted for further questioning.
During a room inspection, officers discovered equipment believed to have been used for consuming illegal substances. However, no narcotics were found at the scene.
Further checks revealed that the individual had overstayed in Indonesia by 66 days, constituting a violation of immigration regulations.
Head of Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, confirmed that the individual has been taken into custody for further examination.
“We do not tolerate foreign nationals who violate Indonesian law, whether related to immigration permits or other criminal activities. The individual will be subject to administrative immigration sanctions, including deportation and re-entry ban,” he said on Monday (April 20).
Authorities emphasized that the operation reflects continued coordination between immigration and law enforcement agencies to maintain public order and legal compliance.
Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, also highlighted the broader objective of the patrol program.
“The Dharma Dewata immigration patrol is part of our commitment to maintaining Bali as a safe and harmonious destination for international visitors who respect local laws and values,” she said.
Officials stated that similar operations will continue as part of efforts to ensure Bali remains a secure and well-regulated tourism destination.
